When I swing my swords, they all choppable

Great interview over at Wax Poetics with GZA on the making of his classic 1995 album we all know and love - Liquid Swords. In the interview he breaks down many of the mysteries of chessboxing in the early wu camp. GZA's flow and RZA's beats on that record still hit as hard now as they did then, and nobody can replicate that sound, I don't care who your are.

A good read for any fans of the W and 90's hip hop in general.

Found these in a google search...good lawd.

Slap your troubles away

You already know about Vince from the ShamWow infomercial. Even if you don't really watch TV, the chances of this ad someone seeping into your dome are still pretty high. I'm gonna get right to the point. My homie and big-room club conqueror Steve Porter somehow found time on his hands to make some of the funniest shit I ever seen..."Rap Chop" (featuring Vince of course). This shit rocks my socks, and apparently many many others in the youtube community every second. This is by no means a first look at this, just an opportunity to share it with more heads who need some comic relief in their day. BEHOLD

We <3 Dancehall!!!!!

Large up to Broken Silence Sound who took the trophy @ Club Dread's 5th annual sound clash on saturday. It was a good clash overall, much respect to Dash-Eye and Unite from Tribe of Kings who went hard w/ some heavy dubs, including a tough Alton Ellis (RIP) during the final tune fi tune that just couldn't topple Broken Silence this time around...

I've been overwhelmed (as always) w/ the copious amount of dancehall oozing out of JA on a weekly basis. Some new heads to watch out for are Erup, Laden,(no website) & Bramma, ....both protogees of super-producer Stephen "di Genius" McGregor (son of dancehall legend Fredie McGregor and arguably the top producer in JA right now). Stephen's slew of hits w/ anyone who's anyone in JA keep piling up...and he's only 17. LARGE respect to Di Genius every time, keep it up star, yuh BADDD!!!!

Federation always has to stay on toppa tings, and they've recently birthed a new cleverly-titled group called "TNT" consisting of 3 of the top female dancehall artists in JA right now, Timberlee, Natalie Storm and Tifa. They recently put out a mix you can enjoy over @ Mad Decent.

And now some chunes!

Erup "Gal Run Dem Head" (Bad Boys 09 remix by A7)

Laden "Bad Boys" (Produced by Stephen McGregor)

Bramma "It's Whatever" (Produced by Stephen McGregor) on the Day Rave Riddim

Although I'm not really feelin the original Jamie Foxx version, Wayne Marshall flips the current radio bomb "Blame It" into a weed anthem, something he's been known to do in the past.

Wayne Marshall "Blame It on the Weed"

On that same chord, here's a new remix from my homie DJ Stepwise

Demarco "Fallen Blame" (DJ Stepwise remix)

And another!

Assassin "Gully Means Money" (DJ Stepwise remix)

While I'm on that making radio more tolerable note...Ele's response to the horrible Ron Brownz tune "Pop Champagne" is MADD!!!

Elephant Man "Sweep Da Floor" (Pop Champagne riddim)

And lastly for this edition, Busta adds some extra heat to Mavado's most recent hit "So Blessed." (Scooped from Go Where Hip Hop)

Mavado ft. Busta Rhymes "So Blessed" (Remix)

Jahdan keeps it locked for XLR8R

LARGES go to Jah D & Matt Shadetek, who continue to push this shit forward....a handful of choice selections are offered up here on "Full Hundred"

This is a (somewhat new, just getting around to posting now) podcast from the highly-acclaimed XLR8R podcast series. Download, stream, or subscribe to the XLR8R podcast here.

From XLR8R:

Brooklyn-based Jahdan is a man currently smack in the center of our radar (and in the Artists to Watch section of our March issue). The MC—who got his start with the Boot Camp Clique—originally hooked up with Dutty Artz' Matt Shadetek on the track "Brooklyn Anthem," and since then, he's stayed in good company with both Shadetek and the label (co-owned by DJ/ rupture).

Shadetek gathered numerous tracks featuring Jahdan's fine lyrcial flow and mashed them into Jahdan Blakkamoore Full Hundred for the XLR8R Podcast. It's a mere 22 minutes long, but Shadetek packed an impressive amount of music into that time, and if you had musings over just what tropical bass mashed into melodic dancehall and hard-hitting dubstep sounded like, here's your mix.

Jahdan Blakkamoore Full Hundred

01 Jahdan - "Full Hundred Intro"
02 Jahdan Blakkamoore - "The General" (Produced by Matt Shadetek & Liondub)
03 Jahdan Blakkamoore - "Long Road" (Produced by Liondub, rmx by Matt Shadetek & Liondub)
04 Noble Society - "How We Gonna Get There" (Produced by Ovaground)
05 Iron Shirt - "Gave You All My Love (Zomby Bassline Remix)"
06 Iron Shirt - "Gave You All My Love (Cauto Dubstep Remix)"
07 Iron Shirt - "Gave You All My Love (Matt Shadetek Gave You All My Dub Remix)"
08 Jahdan Blakkamoore - "Fever" (Produced by Peter Gunn)
09 Jahdan Blakkamoore - "Nice Green (Ghost Library Riddim Mashup by Matt Shadetek)"
10 Noble Society - "Mama So Divine (Marcus Visionary Sub Soca Mix)"
11 Team Shadetek - "Brooklyn Anthem Feat. 77Klash & Jahdan (Ghislain Poirier Remix)"
12 Team Shadetek - "Brooklyn Anthem Feat. 77Klash & Jahdan (Scatta Riddim Mashup by Matt Shadetek)"
13 Team Shadetek - "Brooklyn Anthem Feat. 77Klash & Jahdan (Marcus Visionary Remix)"
